Terry and Clarence Low: More on iPhones, Microsoft Word

December 13, 2008

In our last column, we shared our thoughts about touchscreen cell phones such as the iPhone and the newest Blackberry Storm. In the news last week was a report that a cheaper version of the iPhone will reportedly be sold at Wal-Mart for $99 late this month.

If you were on the sidelines waiting to get one, here are 99 reasons! Please don't knock down the doors or Wal-Mart employees in your rush.

Microsoft Word page formatting, Part Two:

Alas, there is only so much technology we can absorb and learn! Another reader (Thanks, Matt!) sent in a follow-up response to a previous post about formatting portrait and landscape pages within a single Word document. This is how to do it in Word 2003:

Insert a section break that is a page break when you want a new page with a different orientation. This inserts the break, and you have a new page.

While on that new page and after the break, go to "File" then "Page Setup." Change the orientation to landscape. Make sure the "apply to" box is set to "this section" before you click "OK."

Once you click "OK," the page before should be portrait and the second page you just created will be landscape. Repeat the same procedure if you want any of the following pages to have a different orientation or have other, different settings.
