CHAMBER SALUTES EXCELLENCE

Nineteen businesses and organizations carried off honors this week as the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce presented the 17th annual Business Excellence Awards.

Co-sponsoring the event at the Marriott Monterey were First National Bank of Central California, KWAV 97 FM/Magic 63 AM and Coast Weekly.

All categorical winners are now eligible to be considered for business of the year honors in January.

Winners were:

• Arts/Culture (under 50 employees): Forty Karat Productions.

• Business/Professional Sales and Service (under 50 employees): TPO Human Resource Management.

• Business/Professional Sales and Service (more than 50): Hayashi & Wayland Accounting.

• Communication (under 50): Brickman Marketing.

• Communication (more than 50): KSBW Channel 8.

• Dining/Nightlife (under 50): Passionfish.

• Dining/Nightlife (more than 50): Knuckles Sports Bar at the Hyatt.

• Education: Leon and Sylvia Panetta Institute of Public Policy.

• Family Friendly (under 50): Country Home Care.

• Family Friendly (more than 50): Peter B's Brew Pub at the DoubleTree Hotel.

• Hospitality/Tourism (under 50): SCRAMP/Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

• Hospitality/Tourism (more than 50): Monterey Peninsula Inns.

• Nonprofit (under 50): Chartwell School.

• Nonprofit (more than 50): Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice.

• Personal Services (under 50): Resort 2 Me.

• Retail Sales and Service (under 50): Creative Cakery.

• Technology/Manufacturing: Byte Technology.

• Rookie of the Year: Wild Bird Center.

• Adopt a Business: Creative Cakery.
